Patagonia is investing $11.2 million USD ($19.75 million NZD) in a get-out-the-vote campaign in the USA. The dollar amount was inspired by the fact that an estimated 11.2 million environmental voters – Americans who see the climate and environment as a top priority – don’t vote.
Once someone enters the details for three people they want to encourage to vote, they can choose between a $100 credit at Patagonia or a $100 donation to the League of Conservation Voters.

Bougie things to take tramping

The current tramping trend is to go lightweight. But what about choosing to make your pack just a tad heavier in the name of extravagant bougie tramping?
Members of Wellington Tramping and Mountaineering Club have taken things to the next level, though. On a two-night trip into Orongorongo Valley to stay at Paua Hut, a group of eight carried the single-burner barbecue, sharing the load for the two-hour walk. “It was raining, the cooker wasn’t well balanced, and the handles were slippery to hold when walking,” Nicole Woods said. “It took a lot of adjusting and taking turns to get it there.”

Mt Fyffe Hut Hut, Seaward Kaikoura Range
The eight-bunk Mt Fyffe Hut is set in a stunning location to capture impressive sunrises over the Kaikoura peninsula as well as views deep into the range to the west.
The hut has a woodburner and outside the hut there are ample camping spots. The 4WD track to the hut is accessible by mountain bikers as well as trampers.
