Trail-running shoes have become the preferred thru-hiking footwear for many overseas trails, and increasingly on Te Araroa.
TA encompasses a particularly challenging variety of terrain and weather conditions that set it apart from its international cousins, limiting some of the benefits of trail shoes.
However, this hybrid hiking and trail-running shoe from Salewa offers a convincing compromise: day-after-day comfort with durability to go the distance.

Quiz
Answer B - You should register it.
A PLB is a personal locator beacon, and it needs to be registered. It's good practice to share your plans with your emergency contact person. If the beacon is activated, Search and Rescue will call the emergency contact person and ask for details on the group and plan, which will help their decision-making.
PLB battery is not intended to be recharged at home. The batteries have a life of about 7 years. They do not require the ongoing cost of a payment plan. They do not provide your contact with tracking information.
